In order to determine the prospects for widespread use of this technology as unified in web development, a comparative analysis of PWA with native applications, adaptive sites and mobile applications, as well as with the advanced features provided by the strategy Trusted Web Activities. Functional and technical advantages and disadvantages of progressive web applications are also revealed. The peculiarities of PWA architecture and interaction of its main components are determined: Service Worker, Web App Manifest and Application Shell. PWA is a modern website, which is endowed with the characteristics of native applications: the ability to run from the desktop a device with access to its built-in functions, the ability to work offline, the presence of push notifications and more. Methodological principles and practical aspects of using a new technology for creating web applications - Progressive Web Applications (PWA), which was announced by Google in 2015. The article is devoted to the exploration of theoretical and The results support LEAs to identify the cybercriminals’ specific traffic and help in analyzing and comparing the mobile phone data with the network traffic. A method called rule-based extraction for sniffing packets is proposed for extracting the most relevant data from the network traffic. This research article’s primary purpose is to find the IP address of the cybercriminal using WhatsApp through existing sniffing techniques and tools. The most challenging part is to retrieve specific information from the network traffic of a particular IM Application such as WhatsApp. The technological advancement of smartphones and the versatility of Instant Messaging (IM) applications provide multiple communication channels to cybercriminals for communication, making it difficult for the LEAs to monitor/investigate using traditional forensics tools and techniques. It provides valuable information in the investigation, such as time and date and the duration of incoming and outgoing calls. Call record analysis is the most critical task for the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in a cyber-investigation process.
